78 couples say "I do" at community weddings in Saltillo

Eight refugee couples participate in an event organized by the municipal DIF

In a moving event held at the Saltillo Casino, 78 couples formalized their union through the Community Weddings program promoted by theSaltillo Family Development Agency (DIF) , led by its honorary president, Luly López Naranjo, and with the support of Mayor Javier Díaz González. The ceremony symbolized not only the emotional commitment between the couple, but also their access to fundamental rights and legal certainty.

The couples celebrated their union with a waltz, cake, and dinner after receiving their marriage certificates.

“Through the Municipal Government and the Saltillo DIF, we will continue promoting programs that strengthen families, community ties, and social cohesion,” said the Mayor, who, along with his wife, witnessed the couples' legally sworn promise of love .

This program is part of a comprehensive strategy to promote inclusion, strengthen the social fabric, and ensure that more people can access the right to legal marriage, regardless of their economic or social status. Participating couples paid a nominal fee of 300 pesos, compared to the usual cost of the process, which is 2,500 pesos.

In addition to the legal act, the couple received a free premarital counseling workshop provided by the Judiciary, with the goal of providing them with tools for a healthy, mutually respectful life as a couple.

INTERNATIONAL INCLUSION

One of the new features of this edition was the inclusion of eight refugee couples, who were able to marry thanks to the intervention of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), reinforcing the inclusive and humanitarian nature of the program.

The ceremony was made possible thanks to the collaboration of three Civil Registry officials: Carlos Tulio Villarreal Guajardo (Office 64), Martha Alicia Hernández Ríos (Office 40), and Rebeca Razgado Aguilar (Office 50), as well as the support of the State Government, the State Civil Registry, and various allied institutions.

The couples celebrated their union with a waltz, cake, and dinner after receiving their marriage certificates.

At the end of the legal ceremony, the couples celebrated with a toast, cake cutting, a symbolic waltz, and a special dinner to share their happiness with family and loved ones.

A visibly moved Luly López Naranjo emphasized that by forming families based on respect, admiration, and love , "the foundations for a better community are laid," and she reiterated DIF Saltillo's commitment to continue working for the most important element of society: the family.

The event was also attended by Catalina Labastida Pérez, director of the Civil Registry of the State of Coahuila, and Roberto Cárdenas Zavala, general director of the Saltillo DIF.
